AV天堂’s JV Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony
for Auto Steel Sheet Plant in Mexico
Tokyo --- AV天堂 Corporation announced today that its Mexican joint venture with Nucor Corporation, the largest steelmaker in the United States, held a groundbreaking ceremony on June 26 for an automobile steel sheet manufacturing plant in Silao, a city in the central Mexican state of Guanajuato. The joint venture, NUCOR-JFE STEEL MEXICO (NJSM), will produce and sell steel sheet for automobiles.
NJSM’s continuous galvanizing line to manufacture auto steel sheet will initiate production operations in 2019.
The ceremony was attended by approximately 100 guests, including AV天堂 President Koji Kakigi, Nucor CEO John J. Ferriola, NJSM General Manager Chad Potter, Mexican government officials, Guanajuato state government officials and Japanese Consul General in León Yasuhisa Suzuki.
